What's always free — and what's not

No bait-and-switch, no paywall slammed mid-sentence. Here's the line, stated once and plainly, so you always know which side of it you're on.

Always free, forever

The craft of everyday miracles

  • Build a website or a web app
  • Ship it live on the internet
  • Drive traffic to it
  • Run and maintain it yourself
  • Connect it to other systems

This core of independence is never locked behind a password. It's genuinely enough to build real things.

Why charge at all

Here's the rationale, said out loud: things that are entirely free usually aren't worth much, because nobody pours time and soul into them. Charging for the advanced layer is exactly what lets us pour soul into everything — including the free part. The paid tier isn't a gate on the basics; it's the funding that keeps the basics excellent and free.

The free craft is open to everyone. The Members' Academy is the advanced/further layer — never a re-run of what's already free.

The funnel — tasteful, never a trap

Public lessons are complete and valuable on their own. At the natural end of a lesson — never mid-sentence — a lesson may point you to a deeper follow-on in the Members' Academy. That callout looks like this, and it's a reusable component any lesson can drop in at its close:

Members' Academy

You've got the whole free craft here. When you want the layer that goes further — automation that runs whole processes for you — the Members' Academy takes it from there.

For lesson authors: this is the .members callout. Place it once, at the close of a public post, pointing to the relevant member follow-on. Don't interrupt the body of a lesson with it.

How membership works

Being a member of the Members' Academy is simply belonging to a group — and it's decoupled from how you got there. You might pay once, subscribe, support us as a patron, get the free monthly spot, or be granted it. All of those just open the same door. That means we can add, mix or time-box the ways in without ever touching what a lesson costs to read.

The members' area itself arrives as the depth justifies it. This page is about the line first — but here's how membership keeps the lights on, said plainly.

How we keep this going

We'd rather tell you the model up front than have you guess at it. None of this touches the free craft above — that stays free, full stop. This is only about the deeper, non-public layer and the help that comes with it.

Want more time after that? Members can buy extra hours whenever they like — straightforward consultation top-ups, no package you have to commit to.

One student free every month

Every month we pick one person and take them all the way through — completely free, membership included. In return, they write us their story: what they built, what changed. Those stories become our alumni wall, and they're the heart of why we do this. If money's the only thing in your way, this spot is for you.

And the craft of everyday miracles — building, shipping, running things yourself — stays always free. That line never moves, no matter what happens up here.

In the Academy we say ty — we're building this together, peer to peer. The rest of the site keeps the formal vy.
